Are you ready to discover the secret of the Mediterranean diet?
Learn how to prepare authentic, delicious, Mediterranean recipes and discuss the principles of a healthy lifestyle in an authentic family setting in beautiful Leros! This workshop is a combination of science, mindfulness, wellness, and the culinary arts.
During this cooking workshop, you will explore the culinary tradition of the Mediterranean region with all your senses. Giota Kontogiorgaki, a native of Leros and an excellent connoisseur of the local cuisine, will introduce you to the art of the Mediterranean/Lerian cooking.
Giota will welcome you to her home with a traditional welcoming treat. She will then take you to the family farm where you will pick organic fruits and vegetables that thrive in this blessed place. People here are reviving centuries-old farming methods and producing raw cooking ingredients in a completely natural way, preserving their original taste and freshness.
You will then meet at the fully equipped kitchen of the wonderful stone house and a culinary feast will begin, based on local recipes. Together with Giota you will knead breads and orange cookies and will prepare delicious recipes, some well-known and others that you will try for the first time.
We will eat the foods we prepared together, as Greek families do, and will accompany our food with wonderful local wines. We will end our feast with delicious traditional desserts and fresh fruit.
Oil, wine, and oranges will be the treats you will take with you when you depart. This is the tradition when people visit a friend’s house in the Greek villages!

Mediterranean Cooking Workshop
Giota has been the head chef of the Culture Center for Research and Development of Leros “ARTEMI” for the last two decades. She is responsible for the promotion of the traditional local cuisine; she is offering cooking workshops for individuals (professional and amateur cooks) and groups and oversees the cooking at the local festivals and feasts organized by the Center. Giota will be welcoming you at her house and garden, where you will collect fresh ingredients, will cook with her, and then you will all enjoy a traditional Mediterranean feast.
